Welcome to The Shipping Lane
The Shipping Lane is a website, newsletter, and community hub for people who love romance in media. Whether your favorite couple is already living a happily ever after, engaging in the slowest of slow burns, or still unaware of each other's existence, this is the place for you.
Canon compliant? Love it. A rare pair? Bring it on. Enemies who need to admit all that hostility is really just attraction in a different kind of outfit? Yes, please. Best friends who should just kiss already? Here for it. Love triangles? Why not give it a try? Whatever your particular ship is, no matter what fandom you're in or piece of media you love, this is a safe space.
After all, we all love love.
Consider This Our Meet Cute
In 2025, the publishing industry was dominated by both romance and romantasy, stories that put emotional depth and character relationships at the heart of their worlds. On television, Heated Rivalry set the pop culture zeitgeist on fire. But somehow, too many people (and networks) still refuse to take these sorts of stories seriously.
Part of the reason for that is that we're simply not talking about it enough. Too many pundits, journalists, and/or outlets either don't understand fandom, find concepts like "shipping" icky, or just don't get what it is about romantic relationships that speak so strongly to so many readers and viewers at this precise moment in time. I'd like to try to fix that.
Working the Kinks Out
There are so many plans in the works for recurring features, columns, topics, and goodies, but for the moment, this whole endeavour is very much a work in progress.
If you have suggestions, requests, thoughts to share, ships I should know about, or just want to help out The Shipping Lane in some way, our inbox is open at theshippinglane1@gmail.com.
How to Support the Site
If you like the idea behind The Shipping Lane, please subscribe! It’s the best way to support the site and to help me prove what I already know – that there's an audience for smart conversation about romance and the relationships that keep us invested in specific pieces of media. (No matter how good or bad that media might be. We've all been there; we don't judge.)
Paid tiers will offer extra goodies and increased access to new columns and features, including comments. (That's coming soon, but I'm still working that bit out behind the scenes.)
The tip jar is open if you'd like a way to express your support while all the specifics are getting fleshed out. And tell your friends — one of the best ways to ensure I can continue doing this is to help others find it!
